The story is usually written from the point where its myth begins.

In other words, no matter how beautiful the flowers are, the roots will always be dirty.

And the stories of many legendary bands do not begin beautifully, even under ideal conditions.

AC / DC is a mythical band within the confines of a very lucrative and successful industry.

The brilliance of their global recognition and success hides a portion of grey areas.

One of them is named Dave Evans.

""

The majority of the band’s fans have the impression that Bon Scott was their original singer.

But dusting off their story, it will also feature the name of Dave Evans, who was the original frontman.

During 1973-1974, while Evans sang in the band, they recorded the song “Can I Sit Next to You, Girl“.

A song that became a single by Albert Music and was very successful.

The song was produced by George Young, Malcoln Young‘s older brother, and Harry Vanda.

Their success was such that Lou Reed wanted them to accompany him on his tour. No small feat for a band that even had underage members.

Although the band had already gained acceptance and were playing in front of big crowds, Evans left the band.

He explains the reasons for his departure in an interview with “The Metal Voice“.

The reasons

The problem was purely financial, as he admits.

“We recorded a success, we played a lot of concerts – sometimes three times a day – and I didn’t get paid for it.

We appeared on television, on the radio and we didn’t get paid for it either.

I had to pay rent, I had car payments, I was working really hard, and I was not getting money.

One day we met with our manager and he smart-mouthed me, so I hit him.

I was fed up, I decided to leave the band after the tour ended, unless I was getting enough cash, which in the end didn’t happen.”

Elsewhere in the interview, they asked the singer if I would like to write a book about AC/DC.

Evans didn’t rule it out, “as long as a publisher is found” adding that he has “too many stories, all unknown to their fans.“

We hope they find a publisher and the musician to be honest in his narrative, with no disposition for unnecessary bile and distortion of events.
